Delft Blue Tiles Blanket
This pattern is inspired by the antique Delft blue tiles
from the 17th century. Delft Blue was manufactured as a
cheap alternative for the blue-white Chinese porcelain.
I love the clear, blue gradations of the hand-painted
motifs on the tin glaze. It has a fresh and timeless
appearance. In the pattern I deliberately chose to finish some tiles with a gray line of single crochets and others not. This, together with the gray ‘tile joint’ (the single crochets with which you hook the blocks together), gives you the appearance of the uneven antique tiles.
