Throw in your wildest variegated yarns and odd bits of stash! Linen stitch has an uncanny ability to create attractive fabric from random colors.

With the Side-to-Side version, it’s easy to use small amounts of many yarns. There’s a nice rhythm to the knitting, and the finished fabric most strongly resembles loom-woven cloth.

The End-to-End version is quick to start and ideal for entire skeins of yarn with unpredictable or complex variegation.

This pattern contains both a written version for the size and gauge given above, a calculator for changing the size and/or gauge to suit your needs, as well as tips and tricks for making this project painless.
