Echinopsis is a whimsical colourwork toque inspired by the beautiful flowering cactuses that grace plant owners with an energetic burst of colour in the long winter months. This hat details delicate flowers blooms and starlike glochids (barbed spines).

Echinopsis is designed in 2 contrasting colours and can be worked up in three sizes (S, M, L). A repeating colourwork chart with straightforward decreases at the crown is sure to please beginner and experienced knitters alike.

The Echinopsis cap pattern is designed by Caitlin Shepherd (Plucky Pidgeon Knits) as part of the design collection for our 11th annual Red Scarf scholarship fundraiser! All proceeds from the sale of this pattern through December 31, 2021 are applied directly to our scholarship fund, administered by Foster Care to Success.

This Red Scarf scholarship pattern is knit in Bare Naked Wools Festivus 6.0 Fingering in the limited-edition, custom colorway Rudolph with Stone Soup Fingering in color Marble. A portion of Festivus yarn sales go directly to the scholarship fund.
