Pattern updated Sept 2022
This pattern has been re-rewritten with a different tension as the original mittens (pictured) used a yarn that has long since been discontinued. There were some comments on Ravelry that the mittens were coming up large so I have added in an extra size, (which is now the size S, the original L is now XL)

Edith Mitts and Mittens were originally designed and knitted in the lovely Solid Aran BFL from A Stash Addict. I have since made a pair in Cascade 220 which worked really well and they were pretty indestructible, so this is now the suggested yarn.

A cosy pair of full or fingerless mittens, knitted in aran weight yarn in a slightly tighter gauge to keep the warmth in. Designed with an extra long cuff to keep the chill off your wrists, these cute mittens will make a quick gift or a toasty treat for yourself. Please see notes on yarn substitution and make sure you obtain the correct tension to prevent making giant mitts!

Please note the original indie dyed yarn I used from A Stash Addict for the samples has long since been discontinued. I’ve since made the mittens in the yarn listed above and they have worn and lasted really well. If you are between sizes then I suggest sizing down. Make sure you swatch as the tension is tighter than what is suggested on the ball band.
