My grandmother, Emma, lived on a farm for most of her life. She was an original “green” housewife. This scarf is a simple pattern with an easy-to-memorize four row repeat. The amazing hand-painted yarns available now make beautiful scarves. You can easily crochet a scarf with approximately 450 yards of 4-ply sock weight yarn (100 gram skein), such as the Ella Rae Lace Merino (shown), or any other hand-painted sock weight yarn. Emma’s Garden is started at the bottom point and crocheted upwards, and is very light and airy.
