The story behind the design:
I prefer to unvent my own stitch patterns when possible, so the background stitches and edgings are [somewhat] original to me. The dune pattern mimics the shifting sands of the great Erg Chebbi dune in southeast Morocco. The dromedary edging is, of course, a reference to that special family of even-toed ungulates that hold such a tender place in my heart: Camelids! :)

All too often it seems that knitted items that should be reversible are designed with a right and wrong side. This can present issues with curling or an item not responding well to blocking. These are problems that need to be addressed in the design stage. Both sides of Erg Chebbi look exactly the same. It isn’t reversible in the way some things are where you have two different sides that both look okay; it is fully reversible in that it has two sides that are identical.

The pattern is 4 pages and roughly 883 kilobytes. Latest version of the pattern is from April 13, 2011.
