1 set 4.5mm [US 7] circular needle, 40cm [16in] long, or size to match tension, or your preferred needles for working medium circumferences in the round
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Blocking kit: either flexible wires and rust-proof pins, or two cylindrical objects that won’t be damaged by getting damp (I used plumbers’ pipe-insulating foam, but rolling pins, or lengths of plastic drainpipe or plastic bottles would all be fine)
TENSION
18 sts and 25 rounds to 10cm [4in] over lace pattern worked in the round, relaxed after washing and blocking

PATTERN NOTES
This cowl is worked in the round starting at the widest point and then getting narrower as you work upwards. The lace pattern cleverly incorporates the shaping to give a flowing evolution of the stitch pattern.
Instructions are provided in both written and charted forms.
