This is a kind of quilt pattern piecing all the leaves together to create the poncho. If you want to make for a child use less leaves and a different loom for the turtle neck.
I used the 24 peg 1/2 gauge CinDwood loom for the leaves, and the 60 peg 1/2 guage for the turtle neck.
There is cableing, increasing, decreasing, yarn overs, and sew to do with this pattern. There is an image of the order it is sewn in with the PDF pattern, as well as video for how to knit the leaves.
I used Lions Brand Chenille in Opal, and I used 10 skeins to create this project. Any bulky yarn will work fine for the project, and you could even double strand knit with worsted yarn for the pattern as well.
This isn’t just a pattern for a poncho, this is a pattern that you can use the leaf alone to make a blanket, scarf, capes, and any other way you can invision the leaf design being worked. So the sky is the limit when it comes to what you can make with the leaf.
