I have implemented the Pay What You Can system. Each item is listed at what I think is fair for my work and designing each item. But due to circumstances out of each of our control, I want to make sure my patterns are accessible for everyone. Use code OLIVE to save $1 off this pattern.

A headwrap with no purling, no brioche, a lot of stretch, uses leftovers from the stash, and can be knit in just a couple of hours with no blocking required? I’ve got you covered.

Introducing the Farmer’s Headwrap, a light and airy headwrap for every day of the year. Ribbed in texture when laying flat, but when stretched out on the head, the ribbing slightly melds into lots of glorious stitches to admire. Squish it up or wear it wide, use it to hold your hair back or wear it with a messy bun, spring and summer, or fall and winter, the options are limitless.

The Farmer’s Headwrap is a customizable quick knit. You choose the size based on your own head circumference, or follow the standard size in the pattern for the average fit. You choose to use one strand of fingering weight yarn or one strand of fingering weight held double with one strand of mohair lace. In no time at all you will have the perfect headwrap! It is such a quick and comfortable knit you’ll be making one in every color of the rainbow.

I used Graphic Dyeworks Widow Singles in a OOAK color. I do not recommend superwash unless you hold it double with mohair lace because superwash tends to stretch more over time. (The purple headwrap is BFL Superwash held double with mohair.)

Gauge
Gauge is not really important as the size is customizable. However, my gauge is 17 x 21 = 4”/10cm.

A stitch you may or may not be familiar with is the k1b, or knit 1 below. Here’s a video from Very Pink Knits to show the stitch being worked.

Standard size is 4.75”/12cm wide (stretches to more than 7”/20cm) by a fit of up to 24”/61cm in circumference. Customizing the headwrap to your size can use more or less yarn depending on how large or small you make it. I wear mine as a loose fit, but some might like theirs as a more snug fit.

Please tag me, @OliveAndPearlKnits, in your social media posts of your Farmer’s Headwrap. I’d love to see your projects and all the ways you wear your headwrap.

A special thank you to Cassiopeia and Kate for test knitting. I couldn’t do this all without you.
