This design was inspired by the geometry and beauty of the rice terrace that Indonesian farmers build. In Bahasa Indonesia, we call it ‘Terasering’. Balinese people call it ‘Sengkedan’. I was also inspired by the people I have ‘met’ on Instagram, some of whom have become my friends. These two things; the beautiful landscape and friendship without gender boundaries, inspired me to design unisex socks.

You can pair up with other knitters around the world and swap your finished projects, knit them for your loved ones, or knit a pair for yourself. Any solid, semi-solid or variegated yarns will work beautifully with the slanted slipped stitch motif. You don’t need a cable needle, so it will be the perfect project to knit whilst you travel.

The length of the sock is easily adaptable.

Cuff-down construction.

Farmers Socks pattern instruction is now available in Russian. Thank you so much, Maria of Handmadekoala for your very kind help.
