UPDATED to clarify instructions on the first few rows.

Watch your crocheted bag magically turn into a piece of chic, fuzzy geometry. Download includes pattern instructions for a small or large felted knot tote bag. All you need are a few skeins of bulky wool, one crochet hook in I or J and one stitch marker. Uses only one stitch throughout: the half double crochet.

Photos are included in the pattern to help you see how it looks before and after felting. PLUS: complete felting instructions, which are helpful for first-time felters.

It’s an easy, fun bag to crochet. A delightfully portable project. Requires no hardware in the finishing. Has no seams. Gauge isn’t important. Great for using up bulky stash wool. Excellent for stripes.

Small bag takes about 3 skeins of Patons Wool Roving (120 yards EACH) or other bulky 100 percent wool. Larger size takes between 4 and 5 skeins, depending on how deep you make it and how long you want the handle loops. (Yarn must be 100 percent wool, with no acrylic or it won’t felt successfully.)

Add buttons, pins or other details as you wish. This bag is like a blank canvas that invites creative touches.
