Fialka
Fialka means ‘violet’ and I designed the shawl after I decided that I just have to make a purple shawl that will look like that beautiful little spring flower. When I think of spring, I imagine snowdrops and violets, which grew wild along the paths in the countryside when I was a child. I remember bringing home the tiny purple bouquets and enjoying not only their beautiful color, but also their incredible scent. The lace in this shawl reminds me of their petals and it takes me back in time…
Fialka is my classic bottom-up crescent design and because of that it is very easy to customize - the pattern includes four sizes, three different lace charts and beading options, all of which can be used to create many different combinations.
The shawl is worked from the bottom border in one piece starting with the lace edge and is shaped into a crescent with simple stockinette short rows (no wraps). The lace panel and the bind off include beads for texture, but the design will work without beads as well.
