fika {fee-ka} (Swedish noun)
A moment to slow down and appreciate the good things in life, such as coffee with friends.

I wrote this pattern to release on the Memorial Day holiday weekend. These long weekends are meant for slowing down and relaxing with family and friends. And, if you are lucky you can add in yarn and crocheting or knitting!

With this pattern you can make a cowl or an infinity scarf. Fika is crocheted end to end so that you can find your perfect stopping point, before you do the final easy whip stitch seam to join in the round.

I recently found the Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend that comes in solid and variegated colors and is 200 grams and 392 yards. I bought several and realized that the solid color “Whipped Cream” is much softer and fluffier than the other variegated colors. This color is fluffy and light and just perfect for a soft cowl or infinity scarf for warmer temperatures.

With one skein of the Comfy Cotton, you can make two cowls or one infinity scarf. The stitch pattern is a one-row repeat and you can crochet a cowl in several hours. Or, you can use a cozy wool yarn for a warm, toasty cowl for Winter.

So, enjoy some free time and slow down, crochet, and appreciate the good things in life!
