Fleur Sock - Crown of Daisies Colorwork
OVERVIEW
This sock pattern contains instructions for a cuff-down sock with a contrast slip stitch heel flap, gusset, and 4-point toe. It is a base vanilla sock pattern meant to be used with colorwork expansions.
The “Crown of Daisies” colorwork expansion is included in this pattern. If you would like to purchase colorwork charts separately, you can do so in my Etsy store.
The pattern is written for double-pointed needles, however, it could be worked using magic loop or 9-inch circular needles if you prefer.
This sock pattern works best with high contrast between the main color and contrast color. Picking appropriate colors will help the pattern shine and showcase all the hard work you put into it!
WHAT MAKES THIS PATTERN UNIQUE
As someone with a narrow foot and a wide calf, I have found sock patterns don’t fit me well unless I adjust the stitch counts. I have included instructions for two different ways to modify this pattern for narrow ankles and/or feet.
DIFFICULTY
This pattern is intended for people who have experience knitting socks and want to add something a little special to their vanilla sock knitting.
Ambitious beginners could also use this pattern, however, some knowledge of sock knitting techniques is assumed.
SIZING
Sizes: XS (S, M, L) XL
Finished circumference: 6 (7, 8, 9) 10 inches/ 15 (17.5, 20, 22.5) 25 cm
Recommended ease: 0-1 inches/ 0-2.5 cm of negative ease.
If you fall between sizes I recommend sizing down for a better fit.
Mix and match sizing instructions are included if you have a notable difference in circumference between your leg and your foot (recommended for a 1 inch/ 2.5 cm difference or larger).
Leg and foot length are customizable.
YARN
Fingering weight sock yarn in the following amounts (total amount needed for 2 socks):
Contrast color: 60 (78, 96, 116) 140 yds/ 56 (70, 88, 108) 128 m
Main color: 176 (206, 234, 264) 294 yds/ 162 (188, 216, 242) 270 m
Note: Yardages are based on a 5-chart colorwork leg and a size 7 foot. You may need more or less yarn depending on colorwork choice and shoe size. Estimate yardage based on largest circumference if using mix and match sizing.
