Fortuitous Finds Dishcloth
Fortuitous Finds is a textured dishcloth that uses simple crochet stitches (chains, single crochet, half double crochet, and slip stitches) to create a fabric that is useful for cleaning dishes and other dirty objects.
The name Fortuitous Finds arose because the cotton yarn used in its creation was a fortuitous find! My spouse and I had lived for four years in Germany, and we had put a bunch of stuff into long term storage before our move to Germany.
Difficulty: Beginner, this dishcloth uses basic crochet stitches such as ch, sc, hdc, and sl st.
Tools and Materials:
- 5.00 mm H-8 crochet hook – or appropriate hook for yarn weight used
- tapestry needle and scissors
- approximately 50g worsted or Aran cotton or other yarn suitable for dishcloths (sample used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Robin’s Egg) - other weights of yarn can be used (i.e. DK) however the size of the dishcloth may vary, or you will have to change the number of foundation chains to achieve your desired size.
Sizes: One size. Sample is 20 x 20 cm (8 x 8 inches). Width can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of starting chains. Length can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of pattern repeats.
