Your baby can always use another blanket. They are so much fun to make. I hope you think this one is also.

The Four Squares Blanket utilizes a modular construction using a provisional cast on. It can be made with as many colors as you like. This particular blanket is made with three different colors together with a coordinating variegated yarn used for the outer border. Each of the inner squares is knitted with two colors. The main color of each square is worked in garter st and the contrasting color is worked in stockinette stitch. The solid colors can be changed, so that in one square, one of the colors is the main color (MC) and in another square it could be the contrasting color.

Two options for the outer border/edging are provided, one simpler and the other more complex.

Each of the four squares is knitted from a temporary or provisional cast on along 2 sides with a center st between. This center st is the site for a central double decrease, knitted every right side row, which forms a line along the diagonal of the square.
