This piece was designed to be a light-weight accessory that celebrates the beauty of frangipani. Known in Thailand as leelawadee, it is found throughout the country’s gardens. I particularly like the smaller-blossom variety, which, along with a leaf, is represented in the pattern.

The scarf measures approximately 5-1/2x52 inches (14x132 cm) and was knit in a bamboo/cotton blend (70/30) fingering-weight yarn, which provides both a lovely drape and an attractive sheen.

The design is a 16-row repeat, and incorporates 26 size 8/0 glass beads to represent drops of dew that are found on the leelawadee in the mornings.

Basic lace knitting skills are sufficient to successfully knit this pattern.
