The inspiration for this sweater came from a top that a friend of mine was wearing. I thought it would intriguing to try to design something like it. The top was made with a matte fabric for the bodice and a shiny fabric for the bottom. So I picked out a wool yarn for the bodice and a bamboo yarn for the body. I love the way the two fabrics have opposing textures, yet compatible colors. The bodice is worked in double knitting to give more coverage and balance the weight of the bamboo yarn in the full body. The body portion of the top is worked with increases all the way down to give a swinging effect. The overall result is a fun, flirty top. This sweater is knit from the top down so it can be tried on as you knit to insure correct sizing. The bodice of this top can be tricky to knit until you master the double knitting technique, but the body is quite easy to knit.
