Freesia Flower Scarf
This is a simple rectangular scarf, knitted from one end to the other. It has a pattern section at each end of the scarf and is plain stocking stitch through the centre of the scarf.
The pattern for each end is charted only.
I used hand spun yarn from my own superfine merino sheep - The particular sheep that contributed to this scarf was “Freesia”, a lovely ewe with a very dark chocolate brown fleece with just a couple of white spots on her back.
The hand spun yarn was approximately a DK/8 ply weight. I used about 280 grams of yarn which is around the 600-650 metres. As it was hand spun yarn, I cannot be exactly sure of the metreage.
You could certainly knit this pattern with a lighter or heavier gauge yarn. This would effect the width of your scarf, but you can make it any length you want by increasing or decreasing the number of rows in the centre of the scarf.
I charted the pattern as I knitted it, so it has not been tested. Please let me know if you find any errors.
One of the Chart Symbol explanantions is a bit vague.
The symbol \ should say:
Slip 1 knitwise, slip another 1 knitwise, then insert the left hand needle into the front of both slipped stitches and knit the 2 stitches together.
There is an error in the chart on ROW 58 (this is a wrong side row). Stitch 52 and 55 should be WS knit stitches.
