This pattern is made by using fair isle colorwork together with mosaic knitting creating the three color design. This avoids the annoyance of carrying three strands at the same time. The pattern alternates between knitting in a single color then knitting in two color fair isle.

You’ll want to be comfortable with knitting in the round, fair isle colorwork and mosaic knitting before tackling this pattern. If you’ve never done mosaic knitting I recommend trying my Fremont Street Hat 2 pattern. It uses the same mosaic technique without the added difficulty of fair isle colorwork. Regardless, this pattern explains how to read a mosaic pattern and specifically how to read this pattern.

This hat will fit an average to large adult head - matching my gauge will result in a hat that is about 23.5” circumference. I tend to knit looser than most people, so keep an eye on your gauge.

You’ll need 100y of the main color and 50y each of each contrasting color to complete the hat.

If you’re having any difficulty with the hat don’t hesitate to reach out!
