From the scalloped edge cuff to the twining vine around the toe, these socks combine gingham and leaf patterned colorwork to create the perfect footwear for cottagecore and nature lovers.

The socks are knitted top down from cuff to toe, beginning with a scalloped edge cuff, and continuing with stranded colorwork in the round. (The colorwork sections only require you to knit with 2 colors at a time.) The short row heel is worked using a wrap-and-turn method. Stranded colorwork continues along the foot of the sock down to the toe, which is shaped by decreases and then grafted together.

Materials

Needles:

• 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles
• 2 mm (US 0) circular needles

Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on mini circular needles (approximately 23 cm / 9 inches in length) and 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for magic loop only or DPNs if that is your preference. If you are using mini circulars, keep in mind that you will need to switch to magic loop or DPNs when reaching the toe section.

Yarn:

This pattern was designed to be knitted with Gründl Hot Socks Uni in Weiß (White) and Kupfer Meliert (Copper), and Gründl Hot Socks Merino in Braun (Brown), and requires the following approximate quantities.

• White: 26 g / 110 m / 121 yds (32 g / 135 m / 148 yds, 38 g / 160 m / 175 yds)
• Brown: 15 g / 63 m / 69 yds (18 g / 76 m / 84 yds, 23 g / 97 m / 106 yds) ( Copper: 12 g / 51 m / 56 yds (16 g / 68 m / 75 yds, 21 g / 89 m / 98 yds)

To knit the green colorway, it is recommended to substitute Gründl Hot Socks Merino in Grasgrün for Copper and Gründl Hot Socks Uni in Tannengrün for Brown.

The socks can also be made with any other fingering weight yarns that can achieve the correct gauge.

Note: the earlier version of this pattern (green colorway shown in photos) used a different, chunkier yarn, but the current version of this pattern has been adjusted for more standard-sized sock yarn and an improved fit. See yarn substitution options above if you would like to knit the green colorway.
