When my 7-year-old daughter told me that she wanted to swim the Olympics I believed her. Not with the blind love of a parent, regardless of her talent, but because that is my job. I will give everything I can to make her dream come true. This does not mean that Rachel will definitely swim the Olympics or even that her dreams will stay the same her whole life.

It just means that I hold her dreams in my hands and heart and do my best to make sure that she and her brothers become everything they can be one day. Five years later at 12 she is as determined as ever, and so I stand as her number one supporter. Aim for the stars, you might just reach them.

The cowl is knit in the round, it starts and ends with a simple rib and has 3 pattern sections in between. The first section is an eyelet pattern to represent the water droplets as the swimmer train and race. The second section is a simple textured section like ripples or waves on the water behind the swimmers. The last section is columns of twisted stitches to look like swimmers in their lanes. The twisted stitches are not difficult but I have made some video tutorials to help.

If you find the twisted stitches tricky then you can use the cable method. This section is both charted and written.
