Pattern #5004

This design was inspired by a lace sampler that was pictured in the classic, “Mary Thomas’s Book of Knitting Patterns”. The scarf is mostly stockinette stitch, so it does tend to curl. That curl lends the scarf a certain charm. If you want, you can steam block the scarf so it will lie flat.

This scarf works well with yarns that have some sheen and drape, containing such fibers as silk, lyocel, rayon, soy silk, or bamboo silk. Yarns that are DK or worsted weight in thickness will work. I have also knitted this scarf with thinner yarn and smaller needles. The instructions here work for the commercial yarn I’ve used.
