As a child, my Grandmother would send us care packages, since she lived far away. The part I always
looked forward to were the jars of homemade raspberry jam that she made from the berry bushes in her
back yard. Time has passed and she no longer makes jam, but now the same love and care goes into a
gift for her that I can send back in her own care packages.

This textured cowl and mitts set is so engaging you can’t help but to want to do just one more pattern
repeat. The diamond pattern is reminiscent of the pattern of the recycled jars she would send, and the
alternating garter and stockinette sections at the top of the cowl make the ridges of the lid. The mitts
feature a gap along the fingers so that rings can have room to move with your hands without fear of
snagging. Each piece works up quickly, and are a lovely way to show someone you care. Or you can keep
it for yourself, because really, doesn’t everyone want a little bit of Grandma care package love for
themselves?
