This is a crochet PATTERN ONLY (not a finished product) for a blanket using the Overlay Mosaic technique, which uses two basic crochet stitches to create a thick fabric featuring a picture or intricate design.

The blanket is worked with the right side facing at all times. For right-handed crocheters, each row is started on the right and worked to the left, then finished off at the end. For left-handed crocheters, each row is started on the left and worked to the right, then finished off at the end. There are no color changes within the body of the blanket.

This pattern is intermediate difficulty due to the subject matter; there are no special stitches but you do have to pay close attention to the count. It includes a chart and instructions for reading the chart, as well as written instructions for right and left-handed crocheters. Mosaic crochet can look intricate and complicated, but is made up of only single crochet & double crochet!

This pattern is written for 2 colors of yarn, any tapestry crochet (color changes) would be done manually and are not included in the pattern. This blanket can be made in any weight yarn, but I recommend worsted weight (4) to ensure the size. The pattern is 178 stitches across by 216 rows tall. If made with worsted weight yarn, the finished blanket should measure about 51” wide x 63” tall, not counting the fringe or border.

Needed for this pattern:
Background color - 1,950 yards
Accent/design color - 1,900 yards
Appropriate size crochet hook (I recommend sizing down .5mm from the size that the yarn recommends)
