This beautiful Heirloom Lace Shawl can be used as a baby blanket, a shawl, or with the cobweb weight yarn, a lovely fine scarf for yourself or a friend.

2ply Lace weight yarn makes approx. 75x80cm (1000 meters and 4mm needles)

1ply Cobweb weight yarn makes approx. 70x75cm (700 meters and 3.25mm needles)

Tension is not important with this project.

The lace patterns used in this shawl are relatively simple patterns. I have included charts and a lot of clearly written step by step instructions for those knitters who have never attempted an heirloom lace shawl before.

The shawl is constructed in 3 parts. First the central square is worked back and forth on straight needles. Next, a border is knitted around the central square, in the round, using circular needles. Lastly the edging is worked at the perimeter of the border.
