These mittens are inspired by medieval and Estonian knitting. The comb pattern on the cuff is a copy of a 13th century find from a Votic grave in Estonia. They were knitted in natural white, madder red and indigo blue yarn.

Size is determined by your gauge. For a small womans mitten gauge is 30 st/4 inch, for a medium womans/mens mitten 28 st/4 inch and for a larger mens mitten 26 st/4 inch. Use a thicker yarn to get a warm and sturdy mitten.

You will need about 50 grams of white, 35 grams of red and 25 grams of blue yarn

There are instructions and a chart included in the pattern.
