The Charlie Hood is a knitted hood with a long cowl, a practical and cozy alternative to hats and scarfs. Because the cowl is long you can play around with it; use it on the outside or on the inside of the hood!

This hood is worked from bottom to top. The long cowl is knitted in the round and the hood is knitted flat with a beautiful cable design at the front. I have also used a wrap stitch next to the cable. I have added instructions with step-by-step photos in the pattern about the used wrap stitch.
After finishing the hood you have to sew the top of the hood together.

This pattern is available in 4 sizes: 5-8 years, 9-11 years, teen and adult
This pattern is available in English and Dutch

Pattern Level: Intermediate (you must know how to knit in the round and how to knit cables; the cable pattern is completely written out (no charts))

Materials:

  • circular needles size US = 8, UK = 6 = 5 mm with a length of 40 cm / 16 inch
  • Cable needle
  • Yarn with yarn weight Worsted/Aran (for size 5-8 years: 225 meters/ 246 yards till 400 meters /440 yards for the adult size)

This hood is the perfect example of how you can take cable stitches and craft them into something unique. The stitches used for this cable hat are for intermediate knitters.
