The Houndstooth Dog Sweater is a two-color crochet sweater worked in a classic houndstooth check, with a soft ribbed neckband, real leg holes, and a harness opening built right into the design.

It starts with a ribbed neckband worked flat and joined in the round, then stitches are picked up along the edge and worked in joined, turned rounds with increases at four markers to bring the neck up to the shoulders. From there, work the chest panel flat across the center while the rest continues in rounds through the leg and harness holes and down the rib cage; then work the bottom back flat and decrease to close. A clean edging finishes the bottom opening and both leg holes.

It comes in eight sizes, XXS through 3X, so it fits more than just the tiny dogs most patterns are written for.

US G (4.0mm) and G+/7 (4.5mm) crochet hook
Smaller hook for the neckband, larger hook for the remainder of the sweater.
