This pattern outlines the steps for knitting up a little toy hot dog. The two pieces making up each half of the bun are knitted flat, filled with stuffing, and seamed up and then sewn to each other. The hot dog sausage can be worked up in the round. The mustard or ketchup squeeze is made by working an I-cord which is then stitched onto the sausage. The finished object measures about 3.5” long.

NOTIONS:
Pair US 3 / 3.25 mm knitting needles
DPNs or circulars for I-cord
Embroidery needle

MATERIALS:
4 g Worsted Wt. Yarn (Bun Exterior Color)
2 g Worsted Wt. Yarn (Bun Interior Color)
4 g Worsted Wt. Yarn (Sausage Color)

Small amt. Sport-Worsted Wt. (Ketchup/ Mustard)
Sewing thread or Light-weight yarn for sewing up
Poly-fill for stuffing

GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn is slightly more bulky than recommended for the needle size you have chosen. You should aim to create a tight enough fabric so that stuffing doesn’t show.

Basic knitting technique, with simple increases, decreases, seaming and embroidery if working toppings. I-cord for condiments.
