Create marled socks in custom colors using two strands of sock yarn. The perfect socks for cold feet, fast gifts, or impatient knitters. Plus, a fun solution to “buying too much sock yarn”. Great winter boot socks, and ideal for padding around the house on frosty mornings.

Ribbed Toe-up socks with Short-row toes and extra-deep short-row heels. In 3 adult sizes with full written instructions, customization ideas, and resizing guidelines. All the math has been done for you, just sit back and knit some (super fast!) socks.

Cuff down version also available.

Yarn: Knit with 2 strands of sock weight yarn, held double. A great project for scraps, or try one self-striping skein and one solid skein. Yardage/ meterage will vary depending on length.

Size S shown in: scraps of 4 self-striping sock yarns- 3 colors of Online Supersocke “Canaria” plus Opal “The Little Prince” 7764. Size M shown in: Cascade “Heritage Solids Sock” 5632 Plum, and SMC “Fine Wool” 2074 (brown). Size L shown in: Lion Brand “Sock-Ease” Green Apple, and blue striped Online Supersocke “Canaria”.

Gauge: In pattern: 22sts/ 4in, 22sts/ 10cm (5.5sts/ in). Row gauge: 30sts/ 4in, 30 sts/ 10cm (7.5sts/ in).

Needles & Notions: 1 stitch marker. 5 DPNs in size needed to obtain gauge. I used US size 3/ 3.25 mm. Pattern also includes notes to adapt to other needle configurations.

Sizes: 3 adult sizes (by circumference), any length. Choose a size with about 1in/ 2.5cm of negative ease. 7in/ 18cm (shown), 8.5in/ 22cm, 10in/ 26cm. See “Customize” section for additional gauges/ sizes.

Skills: Knit, purl, work in the round on DPNs, figure-8 cast on, OR Judy’s magic cast on, OR crochet provisional cast on, wrap & turn short rows, decreases, bind off.
Accessibility Notes: Pattern features: 12 point san-serif font with bolded 14 point headings, no columns (except abbreviation key). Due to additional thickness & warmth, they may be particularly useful to those with circulatory problems (such as Raynauds). Also nice when reversed, if “princess soles” are preferred.
