Pattern Description from Knitting for Peace: “These adorable little hats not only warm the heads of tiny infants, but help to enliven an otherwise sterile neonatal ward and may even bring smiles to the faces of anxious parents. The pattern is written for a standard preemie-size hat. However, you can create hats to fit all sizes of babies by varying the needle size and yarn weight.”

Yarn: Approximately 75 yards washable sportweight yarn (preferably acrylic). Shown in book in Sirdar Snuggly DK (55% acrylic/45% nylon) and GGH Maxima (100% extra-fine superwash merino wool).

Needles:

  • 1 set double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 3 (3.25 mm)
  • 1 set double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 5 (3.75 mm)
  • change needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
