Similar in construction to Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February Baby Sweater. Very little finishing required.

Worked flat for the cardigan body, the sleeves are knit in the round.
To add a hood, I used the directions for this sweater:

The above pattern adds a hood by picking up stitches around the neck edge. The pattern starts with 57 sts around the neck edge while the June baby sweater has 50 stitches around the neck. So you have to do increases (7 stitches) evenly around the first row. If you want to make the sweater in the basketweave stitch, you need to make the hood in basketweave stitch as well.
