Designed for double knitting, this fully reversible throw is worked flat from the bottom up. The pattern provides row-by-row visual instructions through charting only—no written instructions included.

Suggested yarn: Worsted weight in two highly contrasting colors. Sample shown in black and white for a photographic effect.

Finished size: Approx. 45” x 50” (114.3 cm x 127 cm), depending on your tension.

Gauge note: Gauge is not critical for this project. Slight variations in tension will affect the final size but not the success of the design.

Needles & materials: Standard knitting needles for worsted weight yarn; no additional tools required.

When I began double knitting five years ago, I used Red Heart Comfort (100% acrylic) for its easy care. Any worsted weight yarn can be used.

The pattern includes two different cast-on options and two bind-off techniques—choose your favorite for a personalized finish.

This design was created for my daughter, Kara, and features a bold owl perched on a fencepost. It’s an heirloom-style project: meditative to knit and visually striking when complete—perfect for knitters ready to explore double knitting or create something meaningful and unique.

The finished throw isn’t just cozy—it’s a conversation piece and a confidence-builder. You’ll walk away with a stunning reversible knit and the deep satisfaction of having mastered a beautifully complex project.
