I first designed these hats in the summer of 2010 for my aunt, her daughters, and her grand-daughters.

This is also my first free pattern.

A loose sun hat that drapes casually over the head (instead of hovering). The brim holds up under the construction techniques of the stitches requiring no extra wire or stiffening agents. The hat is made as a single piece with single crochet, front- and back-post single crochet, and crab stitches done in a tight gauge. The simple in-the-round design makes the piece very easily adjusted to fit any size.
