Meet Kirby the Crab, who is here to remind you that even when you are having a bad day and are feeling crabby… at least you aren’t a crab.

Kirby can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.

My crab is made in Vanna’s Choice Solids using three colors:

  • Scarlet (75 yards)
  • Lemon (25 yards)

Kirby is an Beginner-to-Intermediate-level pattern. Skills you will need include single crochet, increases, decreases, and joining new yarn. This pattern is entirely seamless, as the limbs will be attached as the body is worked. A tutorial on how to attach pieces using single crochet is included. Included is a photo tutorial on how create child-safe eyes from felt, although instructions for using plastic safety eyes are given as well.

The pattern has plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making your occasionally crabby crab.
