Corskcrew tassels and contrast colour trim add fun to this practical winter warmer which was inspired by the Yorkshire gansey tradition.

Kirkstall is part of the Cabled Knits collection, currently being released as an ebook in several instalments until late November 2017. It will be available as a single-pattern download in early 2018.

The pattern includes instructions for three sizes, to fit 48(53:58)cm/ 19(21:23)“ head circumference. The finished hat measures 44½(48½:53)cm/ 17¾(19½:21¼)” around at the brim, and is 18(19½:21½)cm/ 7(7¾:8½)“ high.

To make Kirkstall choose two colours of a sportweight/light DK weight yarn with approximately 280 metres/306 yards per 100g (140 metres/153 yards per 50g). You will need two 50g skeins of MC, and one 50g skeinof CC.

The pictured sample was knitted with Stolen Stitches ‘Nua’ in Kitten Fluff (MC) and Frog On The Wall (CC).
