This shawl design is dedicated to the memory of Klaziena McKinlay Swanson (nee Greve) — beloved mother of Sharon Hill of the Southside Sweeties Crochet Group, Beenleigh Bowls Club.

This is either a triangular or rectangular shawl, alternating mesh/lace work with solid bands. The rectangular repeating pattern can be used for anything from a shawl, pillow/cushion cover, table runner, table cloth, placemat, dresser cover, or as a larger item for across the end of the bed.

I used two Scheepjes Whirl in Slice ‘O’ Cherry Pie — 5 repeats produced a shawl to my wrist.

There are small charts in each row of the written pattern to assist with visualising the order of stitches and the placement of stitches relative to the row below.

I’ve made a video for row 4> https://youtu.be/CrkSsvz6F7s

M. Mason of the Scheepjes Whirl Creations! Facebook group kindly suggests that an extra stitch is added to the each end of each row of the rectangle version. This makes a straighter and more defined edge. It looks pretty awesome. She’s using a 3.25mm hook with her whirl. Thanks M!
