This funky hood can be worked up quickly with just under 100g of double knit 8ply yarn. The hood section is easy to work with half double crochet stitches from the back to the front, leading on to a wonderfully chunky ribbed band using front post and back post double crochet stitches. The hood is finished with herringbone half double crochet ties with chunky knots tied at the tops.

20.1.15 PATTERN UPDATE - Two errors were recently found in this pattern since I made it available for free. These have today been amended and I have uploaded a new PDF with an added ‘Jan 2015 Update’, please make sure that you have this version before embarking upon this pattern.

The errors were as follows:
Hood
From row 16 you’re reducing the stitch count by 2 at either end every other row - so 4sts in total for every other row.
If you do that your stitch counts should be:
18 & 19: 82hdc
20 & 21: 78hdc
22 & 23: 74hdc
24 & 25: 70hdc
And finally 26: 66hdc (not 62 as in the previous version).
To reduce to 62 as per the final stitch count, you needed to work a further straight row of hdc for row 27, so 66hdc and then reduce one more time, so row 28 now ends with 62hdc.
The rest of the pattern for the hat has been renumbered as appropriate.

Ties
There was a numbering error on the ties for this hat, there was no row 21. So the pattern for the ties has been renumbered as appropriate.

My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused anyone. I don’t like errors in my patterns, hence why I get them tested, but somehow they missed these.
