A knitting pattern for a simple and highly symmetrical lace shawl. The shawl is knitted flat on circular needles using stockinette stitch as a base. The finished project will be around 160cm x 70 cm (63 x 31.5 in). The design allows you to repeat the central motif and thus adjust the size according to your preferences.

Included in the pattern:

  • pdf with altogether 18 pages
  • very detailed step-by-step written instructions tons of pictures and helpful tips
  • video tutorials for all knitting techniques are available (on my blog)
  • detailed chart (spread across 4 pages for more details)

Patreon exclusive: There’s a video knit-along available for all patrons.

Difficulty: advanced beginner+

This lace shawl is meant as an introduction to lace knitting. It does not require any complicated stitches, the repeat is very easy to remember and the triangular bottom-up construction is also very intuitive. You should, however, feel comfortable with knitting with lace yarn and smaller needles.

Yarn and yardage:
Lace yarn or a lighter fingering/sock yarn is recommended. I used around 800yd/730m of the Wollmeise lace yarn for the first sample and almost the exact same amount using the Jade Saphire Mongolian cashmere for the second sample (black)

Skills required:
knit, purl, ktbl, k2tog, SSK, yo,
Step-by-step video tutorials are available for all techniques.

Additional materials:
stitch marker, blocking mats & pins, tapestry needle

Note: Sadly Ravelry doesn’t allow for non-pdf purchases. The super high-resolution chart is only available through Etsy or Patreon. But if you drop me an email, I can send it over to you upon request.

errata (both fixed with version 1.4):

  • row 74 was missing 6 stitches. It properly ends like this: … sm yo, k2tog x5, k10, yo, SSK x 3, k5, yo, MI
  • row 75 should end with p12 and not 6
