Great news! 2019 The single pattern for the shrug is now available on Ravelry. It has been updated and includes a chart for the lace pattern.
Update April 2019 I have reknitted the shrug using the same pattern but a DK yarn in pale blue. Images to the left. The same pattern can be used, but the shrug will be wider (i.e. longer) using the thicker yarn.

This clever shrug, based on a Victorian garment called a hug-me-tight, is a really useful and pretty cover-up for chilly summer evenings!

There is now a Ravelry group for A Handknit Romance.
Knitted in one piece sideways with seams at back.
