CONSTRUCTION: The body is crocheted in one piece. The pronotum is crocheted on. The spots, head, elytra and wings are sewn on. The antennae and legs are made of craft wire or crocheted on.

TOOLS AND MATERIALS:

  • Scheepjes Catona in Poppy Rose or other Sport / 4-ply or light worsted / DK yarn in red (1 x 25g skein = 62m)
  • Scheepjes Catona in Jet Black or other Sport / 4-ply or light worsted / DK yarn in black (1 x 25g skein = 62m)
  • Scheepjes Catona in Bridal White or other Sport / 4-ply or light worsted / DK yarn in white (1 x 10g skein = 25m)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook / Size B-1 or C-2 depending on how tightly you crochet
  • Fiberfill
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle (preferably with bent tip)
  • 0.8 to 1mm thick craft wire (optional)
  • Superglue (optional)
  • Flat pliers (optional)
  • Sewing pins
  • Scissors

SIZE: The ladybug with closed wings will be about 5cm/2” long and 4cm/1.5“ wide and the one with open wings will be about 7.5cm/3” long and 7cm/2.75“ wide.
If you would like them to be larger or smaller, you can use a different yarn weight
and adjust the hook size accordingly.
