Green is my favorite color. Yellow-greens, blue-greens; chartreuse, lime, kelly, emerald, teal, grass, olive, moss… They are each wonderfully different and I love them all, so much so that most of my yarn stash is green.

The greens in this remarkable, custom-dyed Vice yarn colorway remind me of verdant tree canopies in springtime with their brilliant greens developing and changing daily. I love to look up through the leaves and just let the green light envelope my world. This moment in time with its fleeting luminescence is the inspiration for Limelight.

Limelight is my classic top-down short row crescent shawl with a bit of garter stitch texture added to the large-scale lace. This pattern is easy enough even for a novice lace knitter because it includes only basic stitches, the stockinette short rows are not wrapped, and most of the wrong side rows are simply purled. The shawl can be worked in lace or fingering yarns, as well as sport weight and DK yarns (heavier yarns may require extra yardage). Although Limelight was designed specifically for gradient yarns, solid or tonal yarns will also work with this modern lace beautifully.

3-25-2016 - error in the original pattern - the cast on should be 158 sts, not 157; everything else remains unchanged; pattern update was sent out.

Limelight was originally published as an exclusive part of the yarnQuest kit #1.
