The top is designed to be worn with 0-1.5”/0-4cm of positive ease. Choose a size that is 0-1.5”/0-4cm larger than your child’s chest. If you would like a looser layering piece, choose one size up from the recommended ease.

Suggested Yarn: Any fingering weight yarn

Suggested Needles: US 4 – 3.5 mm 16” circular needles, and preferred needles for small circumference knitting

Gauge: 24 sts & 30 rows per 4x4 square in 3x3 ribbing, blocked and unstretched

Techniques: knitting in the round, bottom up, decreasing, holding stitches, German short rows, 3-needle bind off, wet blocking

Materials: Fingering yarn, circular needles, stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders, removable stitch markers, extra needle for 3-needle bind off, darning needle.

Construction: The piece is worked from the bottom up to the underarm and then separated at the front and back and worked flat. Each side of the front is worked separately through the shoulder, and stitches are held. The back is worked to the shoulders. Shoulders are seamed together using a 3-needle bind off. Stitches are picked up for sleeves.
