The Local Hero Cowl warms up the wearer when they are out in community building connections. To wrap around and around and around to keep you warm, or let it all hang out to make a fashion statement!

If you buy multiple colors, you can make one loop of each colorway, and you could even make more loops on your chain!

This pattern is both KNIT and CROCHET! You can make two cowls (each 40” around, 4½” wide) interlocked together like a chain. You can make two knit cowls, two crocheted cowls, or (my favorite) one knit and one crocheted cowl.

US 4 32” (or 36”) circular needle, US 6 needle (knit cowl) E crochet hook (crocheted cowl)

This pattern was written for the Local Hero yarn created in Asheville, NC at Purl’s Yarn Emporium. Local Hero is a completely locally-sourced, milled, and dyed yarn dedicated to celebrating individuals who serve our local community through their commitment to justice, equality, and creativity. Each colorway honors a living local hero in Asheville, NC with 25% of sales of each hero’s colorway going to their community project. 100% of online sales of patterns also go to their projects. Patterns are free in the store with purchase of the yarn.
