This is a listing for a pattern for a very “long wingspan” crescent shaped shawl that is comprised of two different lace stitches. The focal stitch of the shawl is a “true” lace that comes to us from Japan. The ornate lace edging stitch is added in the traditional Shetland manner, and gives a beautiful and graceful bottom to the shawl. The focal stitch is so unique that it’s not often seen and will make this shawl an instant heirloom.

The shawl measures 70 inches at the widest points across the top and is 28 inches deep at the deepest point. It is made with a heavier of the fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size #7 (U.S.) needles. The shawl requires approximately 1000 yards of yarn.

The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The shawl was expertly test knitted by StephanieD’Annibale who can be contacted at: sgeologist !at gmail.com The sample was knit using Fleece Artist’s Merino 2-6, in colorway Radient Orchid and requires 3 skeins to knit.
