Luca, a light weight poncho that is delightfully easy to knit, though which ever way you turn it, you get a different look in color, texture and even shape. Very cool….

First you knit a scarf (so you actually get two patterns in one here), then you join the ends and start knitting in the round to create your poncho. A decreased tip and big side slit makes for an interesting detail and allows for many sizes to fit, when knitted to gauge.

Yarn
C1- One skein of Lofty with 280 yards in 7 portions of 40 yards each in changing colors, textures and weights ranging from lace to fingering weight. Shown here in color Mocha.

C2- One Textured yarn cake a light fingering weight, shown here in color Twig. 250 yards per cake.

Notions used
US size 3 (3.25 mm) circular needle 29”
(74 cm) in length.
US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle 36”
(91 cm) in length.
4 Stitch markers, 1 different in color or shape to mark the beginning of new round.
Darning needle or crochet hook for finishing.
Optional scrap yarn to place on hold.

Gauge
Part 1-scarf: 14 sts and 28 rows for the bottom in Garter stitches on smaller needle in light fingering weight.
Part 2 Upper body: 16 sts and 24 rows for the top part in Stockinette stitch on larger needle in light fingering weight.

Techniques used
Knitting flat and in the round, decreasing, color changes, picking up stitches, stretchy bind off, weaving in ends and blocking.
