Luftkastel is the Danish word for “Castle in the air”. The Luftkastel shawl is a crescent symmetric shawl that will drape gracefully around the shoulders and keeps in place without a pin.

Work this shawl in one piece top down with yarn in 4 colors or one single color.

The pattern includes directions for knitting this shawl in one size. (Width at top edge: 190 centimeters, Height: 55 centimeters).

The pattern is written for a knitter who is able to, follow written instructions as well as follow a chart and work increases and decreases. (The directions is a combination of written instructions and charts).

This pattern calls for a yarn with a yardage of approximately 200-225 meters per 100 grams. The first picture shows this shawl worked in hand dyed 50% silk / 50% merino 225 meters per 100 grams from Chester Wool Company.
