The Mabel Jumper is a cropped, bell sleeve, crew neck, drop shoulder jumper with a funky pattern worked in tapestry crochet. This sweater is made with Aran yarn, almost entirely out of UK treble (US: double crochet) stitches, so I’m not fibbing when I say it works up super quick!

As it’s made with simple shapes sewn together, it’s a super easy, beginner-friendly make that will be really fun for makers of all abilities. A lot of my jumpers are worked in solid colours and repeating stitch patterns, so the addition of the tapestry crochet will keep your interest when making this garment.

I was inspired to make the Mabel Jumper after seeing a huge revival in 70s style crochet, so I stuck to simple shapes
and classic colours to achieve the retro look I was after. As soon as I attached the sleeves, I knew I’d hit the brief!

Mabel is a cropped garment, but feel free to add more rows before working the tapestry crochet pattern (as the pattern is designed to lay on your bust).

Bust sizes given as XS (S/M, L/XL, 2X/3X, 4X/5X): 92 (112, 130, 148, 168) cm, requiring 783 (856, 1077, 1258, 1328) metres of main colour yarn.

This pattern is available in both UK & US terminology so you don’t have to translate stitches.
