Description: This cute hat is a fast knit in a worsted weight yarn. Each ear flap is knitted separately and then connected to front and back and continued in round. Back brim is made wider to cover the neck and shaped via short rows. After garter stitch brim is done, you will continue working on the whiskers and eye lashes and finally finish closing the top with loop stitch to make hair.
Ties are made last. Then it is time to make a face and let your imagination loose.
Sizes: 15(17, 20, 22)”/38(43,51,56)cm actual circumference of the finished hat at the brim.
Yarn: Madelinetosh Merino, 100% merino wool (210 yards/192 meters) 1 skein. The sample was made in 20”/51cm size and used .6 of a skein in color Edison Bulb
CC – any worsted weight yarn in black color. You will need approx. 90(115, 126, 140)yds.
Gauge: 16sts x 23rows = 4”/10cm in st st
Needles: US6(4mm) circular needles 12”/30.5cm long.
Other tools: tapestry needle
Other Materials: 3 buttons for eyes and nose, 5/8”/15mm in diameter – optional. In the sample, the nose was stitched on.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate. Join pieces as you go, knitting in round, some stitching of the face.
